CitySwitch Green Office is a growing national partnership between businesses and local government acting as environmental leaders. The program works with office tenants committed to improving energy efficiency to make a positive impact on climate change.
Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions are amongst the highest in the world per capita (source: DECCW). Approximately 80 percent of our greenhouse gases are produced in cities and a large proportion of this is made up by the energy demand attributed to office tenancies.
One of the biggest challenges facing Australia is how to reduce the carbon pollution produced by office buildings particularly as many tenants are unaware of their climate change impact or the wider benefits of office energy efficiency. CitySwitch helps to address these concerns and change the balance of energy demand responsibility.
CitySwitch (formerly 3CBDs Greenhouse Initiative) was established by the City of Sydney, North Sydney Council, Parramatta City Council and the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW). The delivery of the national CitySwitch program is led through the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors.
