What's involved?

To become a CitySwitch Signatory your office must be located in a local government area where the council is a participating CitySwitch partner.

By becoming a CitySwitch Signatory, your organisation acknowledges at a senior level that climate change is a serious issue.  In striving to become leaders in energy efficiency, all Signatories agree to undertake a set of energy actions as outlined in the CitySwitch Commitment Letter.

CitySwitch energy actions:

  1. Undertake a benchmark NABERS Energy rating of your office within 3 months of joining the program
  2. Appoint a staff member as Energy Manager to monitor actual performance
  3. Develop and implement an Energy Action Plan to achieve and maintain a 4 star or higher accredited NABERS Energy rating
  4. Request a NABERS Energy base building rating from the building owner/manager
  5. Obtain an annual NABERS Energy rating to monitor your performance and provide feedback on your success at the annual Progress Report - Executive Briefing event
  6. Promote energy efficiency to staff and other stakeholders, and share your experiences with other Signatories.

There is no fee to become a

CitySwitch Signatory.

Once your Commitment Letter has been received, a response letter of acceptance is sent to your organisation from the Mayor/Lord Mayor confirming your participation.  A CitySwitch Program Manager will then be in contact with you to discuss program requirements and provide you with a:

  • CitySwitch Commitment Certificate for display in your office
  • copy of the DECCW Energy Management Guide for Tenants
  • DECCW Administration Fee - Discount Voucher
  • Green Lease Guide
  • Green Lease Schedule

All Signatories receive a website login providing access to CitySwitch energy efficiency resources including:

  • Office energy efficiency check lists
  • NABERS rating factsheets
  • the CitySwitch Communications Toolkit containing promotional tools such as a CitySwitch Signatory logo, templates, fact sheets and other resources to help Signatories promote their achievements
  • Information about CitySwitch Café Events
  • Other CitySwitch resources exclusive to Signatories

You will also be added to the CitySwitch e-bulletin distribution list and will be invited to CitySwitch Café Series Events. Held every few months, these events are exclusive to Signatories and provide a unique opportunity to network with like-minded businesses and to discuss office energy efficiency issues, challenges and opportunities.
